Sergei Announcement
Sergei is an accredited 3 weapon Master and was National Coach for both Holland and Germany. His students have been National Champions (Germany, Holland), European Junior Champions, and Olympians ('08 Beijing). While coaching for Germany, his team took 6th at the European Championships ('08), 5th at the Olympics ('08) and 4th at the Cadet European Championships ('09). His wife, Carolin, has been European Champion, German National Champion, a member of the German National Team, and an Olympian ('08). As a referee, Sergei has presided at the Cadet & Junior World Championships ('01, '02, '03, '04) and the Senior World Championships ('01, '02) as well as at the U.S. National Championships ('05). After 2004, Sergei left the refereeing world to focus on his students' development. In 2004, "Fencing is my Life" was published, which is the story of Sergei's development as a fencer and how the sport has fundamentally changed his life for the better. We are also very happy to have Carolin Golubitsky join the center as well. Carolin brings an enormous amount of international fencing experience, which she is eager to share with our fencers. She is currently training for the 2012 London Olympics and will continue to prepare for 2016 as well. Carolin will be fencing with our students and helping to bring passion to their lives as well as a profound love of fencing. Both Sergei and Carolin will be joining the center in 2012. The arrival date will depend on Carolin's preparations for the upcoming Olympics. It is a strong belief of Brenden, Sergei and Carolin that, by working closely as a team, we can not only bring our students to the highest level of our sport but, just as importantly, help them to develop a passion and love for our sport that will benefit them in everything they do in the future. Please join us in welcoming our new coaches! |

SCFC is happy to announce the addition of the legendary Sergei Golubitsky to our permanent coaching staff. Sergei's credentials are impeccable, having been an undefeated 3 time World Champion, Olympian and winner of numerous World Cups. Taught by his father, Sergei's style of fencing blends supreme technical mastery with a deep and versatile tactical game. He was a member of the Junior and Senior National teams of the USSR as well as the Senior National team of the Ukraine. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, he was a silver medalist. In 1997, he was awarded the Order of the President of Ukraine (3rd degree) and, in 2002, the Order of St. Volodymyr of the Orthodox Church. He has reached the pinnacle of our sport, not only with his own fencing career but also as an international referee, author and world-class coach.
