New to fencing?  These programs are for you.  Starting from the basics, we will take you through the rules of the sport, basic movement, attacking & defending and start to develop your tactical game.  The program includes warm-up, conditioning & coordination exercises, technical work and plenty of sparring with each other.  Coaches and instructors will guide you through how to fence successfully.

Our Introduction to Fencing program is currently offered throughout the week with the option to attend multiple weekly sessions.  The Center does not currently rent fencing gear; all students must provide their own fencing gear.  For those new to the sport, a starter kit costs around $210 (mask, jacket, glove and foil).  We will coordinate your kit for you either on your first day or class or prior to your start if your prefer.  Students age 12 & up are welcome into this program.  For those under the age of 12, we offer a Youth Development Program (see below).

Our Adult Foil Program is specifically structured for students 18 and over and covers the same material as our Introduction to Fencing Program.  Are you an adult looking to learn how to fence with other adults?  This is the program for you.

Are you between the ages of 7 and 11 and want to learn how to fence?  We offer specific programs for our younger students designed to develop a strong understanding of the sport while also including  developmental components critical to success.  These programs focus on coordination, critical thinking, concentration and how they are applied to fencing, all in a fun and engaging environment.

Student must be ready to stay focused for the 60 minute class session and ready to learn.  Programs will guide our younger students through introductory and intermediate level fencing.  We currently offer Youth Development programs in foil and epee.  New students may start in either weapon.  An SCFC Coach will work with you after starting the program to determine which weapon you might prefer.  Youth fencers looking for advanced instruction would move into our Competitive Foil or Epee programs (see below).

Intermediate Programs

Ready to move on to the next level?  There are three weapons in the sport of fencing and we teach them all at the Center.  This program will take you through more advanced techniques and tactics, strengthen and refine movement, and prepare you for more competitive level fencing.  Coaches and instructors will help you develop a game that is specifically suited to your personal strengths.

This program currently meets twice per week.  Students are encouraged to register for both days but have the option to enroll in a single day per week.  Students must purchase their own gear as rental fencing equipment from the center is not available at this time.
