New to fencing? This program is for you. Starting from the basics, we will take you through the rules of the sport, basic movement, attacking & defending and start to develop your tactical game. The program includes warm-up, conditioning & coordination exercises, technical work and plenty of sparring with each other. Coaches and instructors will guide you through how to fence successfully.
This program is currently offered twice per week with the option to attend one or both weekly sessions. Due to Coronavirus restrictions, the Center will not have any rental gear available. All students must provide their own fencing gear. For those new to the sport, a starter kit costs around $170. We will coordinate your kit for you either on your first day or class or prior to your start if your prefer.
Students age 12 & up are welcome into this program. All class sessions are open to any student but for those interested in an adults only program we offer a Saturday morning session from 11am to noon that is restricted to those 21 & over. For those under the age of 12, we offer a Youth Development Program (see below).
$115/month for 1 class per week
$170/month for 2 classes per week
Are you between the ages of 7 and 11 and want to learn how to fence? We offer a specific program for our younger students designed to develop a strong understanding of the sport while also focusing on developmental components critical to success. This program focuses on coordination, critical thinking, concentration and how they are applied to fencing, all in a fun and engaging environment.
Student must be ready to stay focused for the 60 minute class session and ready to learn. This program will guide our younger students through introductory, intermediate and - if they wish - competitive fencing.
Ready to move on to the next level? There are three weapons in the sport of fencing and we teach them all at the Center. You have the opportunity to begin to specialize in either the Foil, the Epee or the Saber (see our website for more information on each weapon). These programs will take you through more advanced techniques and tactics, strengthen and refine movement, and prepare you for more competitive level fencing. Coaches and instructors will help you develop a game that is specifically suited to your personal strengths.
For our foil program, our schedule is offered as a flexible drop-in format similar to our Introduction to Fencing program (see above). For our Epee and Saber programs, students meet at fixed times through the week. Students should either purchase their own gear or will be expected to rent fencing gear from the center.
Foil: Identical to our Introduction to Fencing Program (see above)
For those looking to compete in Foil at the regional, national or international levels, this program is for you. Coach's approval is required for admittance into this program; if you are excited and ready to start competing please speak with a member of our coaching staff to coordinate starting this program. Students will refine and master their game and work as a team to achieve desired results. Goal-setting, systematic training approaches and regular competitive scheduling are all fundamental components of this program as our Coaching staff will assist you in achieving your fencing success!
Students are expected to attend all weekly class sessions while enrolled in this program.
